Continuing Education in Occupational Medicine for PhysiciansDepartment of Community, Occupational and Family Medicine National University of Singapore, National University Hospital, Lower Kent Ridge Road, Singapore 0511
Department of Community, Occupational and Family Medicine National University of Singapore, National University Hospital, Lower Kent Ridge Road, Singapore 0511 Continuing education (CE) in occupational medicine is necessary in Singapore in view of the existing deficiencies and in order to maintain and enhance professional competence. CE should be designed with three categories in mind: physicians not practising occupational medicine, occupational medicine specialists and designated factory doctors. If CE is to be made mandatory there will be a need for a substantial increase in the existing manpower and financial resources. Furthermore, provider units will have to be institutionalised and have the active support of the health care system.
